Don’t worry, this is still a non profit club. But for 2016 anyone wishing to race in the championship and feature on the 2016 League Table is asked to sign up to 1 of only 20 Membership spaces. This is partly to help keep the league table to those who plan to compete in multiple rounds but it will also give me a float of money with which to pay track deposits.
Membership for the 2016 season costs £35 per person.
Members benefits include:
- Access to the members booking area where each race will be at least £7.50 cheaper, so if you race all 6 venues you will save at least £10 compared to a non member.
- £15 prize! – The highest ranking member of each class in each race will receive £15 refunded to their paypal account. (So if a non member wins the class and a member finishes 2nd that member in 2nd will still receive £15.)
- Only members will feature on the championship table and will have opportunity to win one of the 2016 overall trophies. (The top 3 drivers in each class will receive a 2016 championship trophy. Club class trophies may be slightly smaller than Pro class.)
- Members can book the races as early as they wish. Non members can only book any remaining spaces 2-3 weeks before the race. This will ensure members will always have a space to race should they wish to. All races have at least 20 spaces available so all members will be able to race at every venue.
Membership can be purchased at any point through the year as long as there is availability.
NEW – Members can drop their lowest score out of Rounds 3, 4, 5 or 6. This can include a race they were unable to attend. The first 2 rounds at Whilton Mill cannot be dropped, nor can the last round. I will select the lowest score from these eligible rounds and update the championship table accordingly after Round 6 is complete.
Although this new rule will make the championship more competitive even if you cannot help missing a round, it is hoped that members will aim to race at all rounds as I have based this seasons costings on all members racing all rounds.
Points will still be allocated to a non member even though they will not be shown on the table. So if a non member finishes 1st and a member finishes 2nd, the member will only receive the points for 2nd place but the trophy for 1st in class and the £15 class winners prize.
Classes
I’ve given this area a lot of thought as while I want to make the championship as even as possibly for all weights and abilities, I also need to keep the cost down and keep it easy to manage (bearing in mind I arrange this in my spare time). There are other championships that run minimum weight categories where the driver is required to provide their own customised weighted seat insert but not only do these championships cost much more to enter but there is the hassle of making the seat insert and having the weight categories strictly policed.
So I’ve decided to run 2 simples classes for 2016. ‘Pro’ and ‘Club’
Pro Class – Any driver under 85kg without race suit and helmet
Club Class – Any driver over 85kg without race suit and helmet and any driver under 85kg who is 2 seconds or more off the fastest lap pace.
For those that raced in 2015 I will base your race pace on your previous races. I may also move people between categories during the first 3 rounds depending on your ability. IE if a driver just over 85kg is on similar lap times to the ‘Pro’ category, they may get moved. I’ll see how it goes. Some tracks are more weight dependant than others but I’ll do my best to make it fair and interesting for everyone.
The tracks will provide their own trophies for the pro class and in some cases also for the club class. Where the track cannot provide these for Club I will provide smaller trophies for Club.
